The highly anticipated Rainbow 6: Siege tournament the Six Invitational 2021 has been postponed. The game’s publisher Ubisoft announced after the French Prime Minister announced that France will be closing it’s borders to all citizens outside of Europe. The tournament is scheduled on February 9, 2021 in Paris.

This make the Six Invitational the latest live sports event to succumb to Covid-19 pandemic. Fans of the popular game has been gearing up to the event. But the threat of the pandemic cannot be ignored. The safety of the host country and the participant should be the top priority of everybody involved.

While there are plenty of esports event and games that have transitioned online. The issue is that the cross regional matches cannot occur due to server locations. The same problem might occur if the other games start to have their cross regional matches. The main solution to the problem is to get vaccination rolled out. But that is easier said than done. Going back to the topic at hand.

Ubisoft release the statetment  “We have no choice but to postpone the Six Invitational 2021 to a later date. While we are obviously disappointed that the Six Invitational will no longer go ahead this month as planned, our focus is now on re-evaluating the situation and looking for alternative options.

“We are working with and listening to the organizations to find the best possible solutions.”

Ubisoft will be announcing the possible new dates in the future.

While there is still no indication of how the Six Invitational 2021 being postponed will impact the 2021 schedule.  We have yet to see any indication either way. But like what we wrote earlier that the safety of the venue and the participant is the top priority, and there should be no compromises when it comes to safety.
