Nemesis expands to Dota 2 with All-Filipino roster, eyes DreamLeague S26 debut and future titles

MANILA — Newly-formed esports organization Team Nemesis has officially entered the Dota 2 competitive scene, unveiling an all-Filipino roster set to debut at DreamLeague Season 26. With this move, Nemesis aims to establish a dominant presence in Southeast Asia while reigniting the region’s passion for the game.

Nemesis Expands to Dota 2 with Filipino Talent

Founded by former staff members of the British esports organization Into The Breach (ITB Esports), Nemesis has built a reputation for integrity, transparency, and competitive excellence. Already competing in Halo, Trackmania, and Rainbow Six Siege, the organization now sets its sights on Dota 2—a title deeply embedded in its founders’ esports journey.

“We grew up playing Dota 2. It’s a game that shaped our love for esports and gave us some of the most unforgettable moments in gaming history,” said Team Nemesis CEO Chris Evans. “Now, we want to create those moments ourselves. And we believe there’s no better place to start than in the Philippines.”

Nemesis’ decision to form an all-Filipino squad stems from its belief in the region’s raw talent and passionate fanbase.

“The Philippines has some of the most gifted Dota 2 players in the world—they just need the right platform and a team that truly believes in their potential,” said Team Nemesis COO Sebastian Lubczyk. “We’re here to be that team. Our goal is to nurture their talent, amplify their strengths, and help them conquer the global stage.”

The lineup features a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars:

  • Philip Joshua “Karma” Torres (Hard Carry) – A clutch performer formerly with Polaris Esports, known for his precision in high-pressure moments.
  • Red Laurence “Magg!e” Roa (Midlane) – A rising talent from amateur circuits under Bulok Gaming, bringing an aggressive and unpredictable playstyle.
  • Marc Polo “Raven” Fausto (Offlane) – A Southeast Asian Dota veteran transitioning from Fnatic and Blacklist Rivalry.
  • John Rey “Jing” Duyan (Soft Support) – A standout from Mindanao with international LAN experience and sharp map awareness.
  • James Erice “Erice” Guerra (Hard Support) – A seasoned competitor with leadership experience from past Tier 1 teams.
  • Niño Zeus “BaSi” Aldueza (Manager) – Former head coach for Neon Esports, Winter Bear, and Manta Esports, now guiding the team’s strategy and structure.

Breaking the Cycle of Filipino Dota 2 Teams

All-Filipino rosters have seen varying degrees of success over the years, but Nemesis believes they can break the cycle and build a team with lasting impact.

“We believe success comes from more than just assembling talented players—it’s about creating a system that drives consistent improvement,” the team said in a statement to Fulcrum Esports. “Our approach emphasizes disciplined training, proper mentorship, and clear long-term goals. With this foundation, we’re confident our all-Filipino roster can achieve lasting success.”

Reigniting the Filipino Dota 2 Scene

Once a dominant force in the global Dota 2 landscape, the Filipino scene has struggled post-pandemic. Nemesis is determined to help bring back its former glory.

“Our decision to invest here is driven by a genuine desire to develop local talent and build a team that not only wins but also inspires fans to reignite their love for Dota 2,” the team stated. “We want to create a team that fans can emotionally connect with—one they can proudly call their own.”

Beyond competition, Nemesis aims to engage with the community through content creation, grassroots events, and direct fan interaction.

DreamLeague S26: A New Beginning

The team’s first test comes at DreamLeague Season 26 open qualifiers on March 28, where they’ll face off against some of the best teams in the world. For Nemesis, this debut isn’t just about competing—it’s about making a statement.

“With a roster built from some of the country’s most promising players, Team Nemesis is determined to prove they belong among the world’s best,” the organization stated.

Looking Ahead: Expansion Beyond Dota 2

While Dota 2 marks their first step into SEA’s competitive ecosystem, Nemesis has ambitions beyond a single title.

“Beyond Dota 2, we’re also looking to expand our presence in the Philippines and Southeast Asia by entering more esports titles in the future, further strengthening our commitment to the region’s gaming scene,” said the team.
