NAOS Esports to face ZOL Esports in VCT Challengers SEA Split 3 LB QFs after contrasting results

Two Filipino sides NAOS Esports and ZOL Esports will go head-to-head as the VALORANT Challengers SEA 2024 Split 3 heats up on Thursday after contrasting results on their last outings.

The two teams will face each other in the lower bracket quarterfinals with their tournament lives of the line.

The great escape from ZOL

ZOL needed three games in the lower bracket round 1 as they reverse-swept Oblivion Force from Hong Kong last Tuesday to live another day.

The HK-based team escaped ZOL in a one-hour affair in Abyss which extended to overtime, 17-15, with the former needing three straight wins to close the game, with “riyabtw” leading the way with 31 kills for OF and Patrick “PatMen” Mendoza getting 34 kills.

ZOL however was on a different level in Game 2 as Franz Kevin”kevzii” Dingal and Christian “ZYND” Lopez went berserk in Sunset, combining for 37 kills in a 13-4 blasting of Oblivion Force.

The Filipino side rolled with a 9-3 outing before the break, after which only gave OF a single win to close the game and tie the series 1-1.

ZOL continued to roll in the decider match, getting a 9-3 result at the half in Haven, including a 5-0 start, but OF rallied hard after the break.

However, the Filipinos were too much as they closed the series with two straight wins, as PatMen and kevzii combined for 58 kills.

Close but not enough for NAOS

NAOS on the other hand suffered a close 1-2 defeat against Thai outfit Made in Thailand on Wednesday.

MITH put up a classic comeback in Haven as they scored the last seven games to grab the first match 14-12, with Johnty “JA” Arone’s 22 kills went to naught against Chinnakrit “Seph1roth” Phoojaroen’s 28.

The two teams went into overtime again in Game 2 in Bind, but NAOS prevailed this time with a 15-13 scoreline and averting another MITH comeback attempt after the break.

Jerome “Mojer” Literal went up a notch as he scored 32 kills with Neon while Emmanuel “Emman” Morales put up 18 of his own.

MITH led by as much as 1-8 to start Pearl, but NAOS tried to fight back and close the lead to 11-12 in favor of the Thais.

However, Kantapon “Kadoom” Kingthong had other ideas and led MITH to a close 13-11 victory, scoring 24 kills with Neon, while JA’s 22 kills with Astra led NAOS.

The two Filipino teams will clash Thursday at 9:00 PM with a live on VALORANT Esports’ SOOP channel.
