NAOS bows out of VCL 2024 SEA Split 3 after 1-2 loss to Indo’s Alter Ego

The last hope for the Filipinos in VCL Southeast Asia is now out of contention.

NAOS Esports sees itself on the losing end after a full three-game defeat to Indonesian side Alter Ego in the lower bracket semifinals of the VALORANT 2024 SEA Split 3 on Friday.

The Indonesian side defeated two Filipino representatives in the process after knocking down ZOL Esports in the upper bracket quarterfinals last November 7.

Both teams went head-to-head in Pearl, splitting the game 6-6 at the break before NAOS tried to pull off with wins in the next two rounds.

However, the Indonesian representatives scored the next four rounds after, giving themselves a 10-8 cushion to win the tie 13-10, with Alehandro “Nakya” Simanjorang scoring 28 kills for AE and Johnty “JA” Arone leading NAOS with 21.

NAOS took the series to a 1-1 draw in Sunset as they rallied 9-3 before the break including two separate runs of four and five wins, before preventing an Indonesian comeback as they closed the game in Round 20.

Nathaniel “Nexi” Cabero and Xavier “xavi8k” Juan both tallied 19 kills for NAOS in the 45-minute match with AE’s Davin “gotten” being limited to just five kills.

It was Alter Ego’s turn to dominate inside Split in the decider when they put up a sizeable 9-3 lead before pulling away in the second half as they scored five out of the next seven rounds.

Rivaldy “ValdyN” Nafian led the way for AE with 18 kills and 260 ACS as Jerome “Mojer” Literal tried to lead NAOS to a win but was limited to only 15 kills.

NAOS will take USD 5,000 in prize money as they ended up in fourth place.

AE will next take MYSG representatives Disguised on Saturday for a shot in the grand finals against Made in Thailand on Sunday.
