MPL Philippines caster Chantelle calls out AI-Generated harassment
MANILA – MPL Philippines caster Chantelle Hernandez has spoken out against harassment after being the latest target of an AI-generated explicit image circulating on the internet.
Hernandez took to social media to expose the incident, condemning the use of manipulated images to spread false information and harm her reputation.
“Received an alarming message with an AI-generated image that looks like a nude photo of me and even had the nerve to put my social media handle—HINDI PO ITO TOTOO! The original, unaltered photo is on the left.”
(“This is NOT real! The original, unaltered photo is on the left.”)
She further called for respect toward women in esports, emphasizing that the community should be a safe and inclusive space for all players and personalities.
“Respetuhin niyo naman kaming mga babae sa esports. Every gamer, regardless of gender, should be able to enjoy and thrive in the esports scene without facing discrimination or harassment.”
(“Respect women in esports. Every gamer, regardless of gender, should be able to enjoy and thrive in the esports scene without facing discrimination or harassment.”)
She also stated in the post’s comment section that the origins of the AI-generated image remains unknown.
A vocal advocate for gender equality in esports, Chantelle has long championed safe spaces and inclusivity for female gamers and casters.
One of her notable efforts includes SILAB, a grassroots tournament that served as a qualifier for the MLBB Women’s Invitational in 2024, aimed at providing opportunities for women in the competitive scene.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges that women face in esports. The esports community should strive more to push for a space where every player—regardless of gender—can compete, create, and engage without fear of abuse in whatever form.
