MDL Releases Official Statement on Match Fixing Allegation

The MDL Philippines who has been mired with match fixing allegation for the past couple of weeks has finally released their official statement. The MDL Philippines Committee after a through investigation has given our sanctions to the suspected parties that we mentioned in the allegations. This comes on the heels of the MDL teams official statement.

The teams that were investigated were that teams mentioned in the different social media posts. The league together with Philippine Esports Organization (PESO) and the the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) will hold a press conference this Sunday to tackle this very issue.

These were the punishment placed on the players involved in the match fixing issue. The gist of the punishment is 3 years of being banned in any MOONTON Endorsed events.

This in my opinion is a slap in the wrist and assuming the age of the players they will just wait it out. But looking at it on the MOONTON side they are looking to protect the players from the exploitation of some 3rd party.  Sadly the rise of esports betting online may have been the catalyst for the Match Fixing Scandal that has rocked the MDL Philippines.

This serves as a wake up call to the local esports community about the dangers of match fixing and playing the odds in gambling. Now this fall on the appropriate government agency to help out the organizers.

This should serve as a wake up call to the community at large that gambling in now trying to infiltrate the local gaming scene. The young players and the tournaments needs to be both protected.

Since this is still a developing story we will keep you posted on what the results will be from the Press conference that will happen on Sunday.
