ZOL Esports finishes second in APAC Predator League 2025 after sweep loss to Indo’s Alter Ego

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Filipino VALORANT outfit ZOL Esports settles for second in the APAC Predator League 2025 VALORANT event after suffering a 0-2 loss to Indonesian side Alter Ego in the Grand Finals Saturday.

ZOL, who topped Group C consisting of BOOM Esports, CNEsports, and All Gamers Young, failed to win against their VALORANT Challengers 2024 SEA rivals, with the Indonesian side giving them a similar score line last November in the said tournament.

Alter Ego had a hard time in Game 1 as ZOL went ahead to grab a slim 7-5 lead at the break, with Oscar “kakarot” Farin Jr. getting 11 kills with Neon and ZOL taking four of the last five rounds in Sunset.

However, the Filipino side claimed just two of the next nine maps as Alter Ego managed to grab a comeback and scored eight rounds to finish 13-11.

Thomas “Cud” Alfiantino’s Cypher led the Indonesian side with 26 kills while dealing the highest average damage and Rayvaldo “ray4c” Chandra’s Neon getting 20 kills of his own, while Christian “ZYND” Lopez’s Cypher put up 22 kills in a losing effort.

ZOL saw themselves slightly behind in the first half of Game 2 inside Split as they claim a 7-5 lead, thanks to wins in the first two rounds, as ray4c’s Raze led them with 11 kills and three assists.

The Filpinos fought back in the second half, including winning six straight rounds in the second half, but AE’s advantage proved to be too much as they finished off with claiming rounds 23 and 24 to finish the series and lift the Predator League shield.

Davin “gotten” finished with 20 kills and the highest average combat score with Omen, and ray4c claiming 19, while Yousef Imad “Hotsauz” El-Yousef’s Viper led ZOL with 22 kills but ended in losing effort.

It was an improvement for ZOL in the APAC Predator League with them finishing 5th-8th in last year’s edition, while AE’s debut campaign in the tournament saw them shoot straight to the top.

Both teams will meet again on January 29 in the group stage of the VALORANT Challengers 2025 Southeast Asia: Split 1.
