Xipto Esports falls to Shopify Rebellion in VALORANT Game Changers Championship ’24, drops to LB
Singaporean-Filipino side Xipto Esports see their undefeated streak over as they concede a 0-2 defeat against North American powerhouses Shopify Rebellion in the upper bracket semifinals of the VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2024 in Berlin on Thursday dawn (Philippine Time).
Xipto and SR shared the spoils in the first game inside Pearl as they entered the break with six rounds apiece, Xipto ahead by two rounds before SR caught up to tie the affair.
The SG-PH team grabbed both rounds 13 and 14 before Shopify breezed the next seven rounds to complete the comeback and secure the first match of the game.
Ava “florescent” Eugene led Shopify Rebellion with 24 kills, including nine first kills and an impressive 330 ACS as a Jett, while Odella “enerii” Abraham’s Neon was the best performer for the former Team SMG standout getting 17 kills.
Xipto started strong once more in the second match inside Sunset, but Shopify Rebellion made it 5-3 in their favor heading into round nine. The SEA champions took the next four rounds to enter the break at 7-4 in halftime.
The North American champions had another resurgence in the second half, getting three full buys up to round 17, and didn’t look back as the economy fell to SR’s favor and won eight of 12 rounds after the break to win the series.
florescent’s Neon and Sarah “sarahcat” Simpson’s Sova combined four 47 kills as they led Shopify Rebellion to the upper bracket finals, while
Alexandria “Alexy” Francisco’s Sova managed to grab 21 kills of his own with 262 ACS in the team’s first competitive defeat since the team was formed in 2024.
Xipto will head into the lower bracket quarterfinals against Latin America’s KRÜ Blaze on Friday morning Philippine time, with Shopify Rebellion meeting fellow contenders G2 Gozen in the upper bracket finals.
