Snapdragon Pro Series S6 Challenge Season APAC kicks off with Blacklist, ONIC PH wins; Liquid PH suffers defeat vs. RRQ Hoshi
MANILA – Blacklist International and ONIC Philippines secure their first win of the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series Season 6 Challenge Season – APAC while Lazy Esports and Team Liquid Philippines’s campaign start off the wrong foot on Monday.
The Codebreakers and the Super Family inched closer to a spot in February’s Challenge Finals, while Lazy and the Cavalry will have to climb their way up for a Last Chance Qualifier Spot.
Breaking the MDL champs’ code
Blacklist International needed a 2-1 reverse sweep as Lazy Esports offered a challenge in an all-Filipino affair to start the Challenge Season’s group stage.
Jerry Ian “Chovskrt” Nicol had the MDL Philippines Season 4 champions on his back as his Zhuxin put up 18 assists along with four kills in a 24-19 close-combat affair with Blacklist.
However, it will be their last laugh as Michael “MPPP” Endino’s Joy put up a massive 7/0/9 KDA with Salic “Hadj” Imam and John “Perkziva” Sumawan switched roles with a roam Hilda and a mid lane Angela.
Jhonvillle “Outplayed” Villar’s Moskov led the way for Blacklist as they completed the comeback with two kills and 11 assists, while dislodging Jefferdson “Pakbet” Mogol’s Chou who suffered a game-high six deaths.
Crazy stat lines for the world champions
EVOS Glory however offered no answers to the M6 World Champion‘s challenge as ONIC Philippines dismantled the M1-winning organization a swift 2-0 sweep.
King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez’s Suyou didn’t break a sweat in Game 1 as he put up a clean six kills, nine assists tally in an 18-7 beatdown of the White Tigers, while Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ trusted Irithel nerfed any backdoor plays from a Sun pick from EVOS.
The Indonesians suffered the same in Game 2 as Kelra’s Irithel went berserk with the first savage of the MLBB esports scene, coming in the 10th minute with a team fight on the top lane.
Junisen “Anavel” Young Lo’s Hayabusa offered little to the Tigers’ side, getting only two assists and dying five times without any lord or turtle secured.
Not the ideal situation for the Cavalry
Masayuki “YukTzy” Fujita’s debut with the main team didn’t went as planned as they suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of M6 participants RRQ Hoshi to end the day.
RRQ, who fielded another MDL call-up in Muhammad “Toyy” Rizky, won Game 1 as they prevented any attempts from Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s Joy from getting any major objective in under 15 minutes of game time.
However, the two-time M-Series champion went to work in Game 2, getting the MVP with the Suyou as he led the Cavalry to level terms with a dominant 12-3 scorelin while they negate Arthur “Sutsujin” Sunarkho and Said Ali “Idok” Ridho.
Sutsujin answered back in the decider Game 3 with a 6/2/6 performance with the Joy as Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya’s Lukas had an off-night with five deaths and only getting a kill and two assists in almost 14 minutes of play.
Despite TLPH getting all three turtles, a crucial team fight near the lord pit spelled the end for the Cavalry as RRQ took down all but KarlTzy, who was left to defend to his demise.
Aurora’s MLBB season to start in Day 2
ONIC’s fellow M6 participants, Aurora MLBB, will feature in Day 2 of the tournament, closing the day with a best-of-three showdown against Malaysian household name Todak.
With no changes in their lineup, the Northern Lights will try to fend off a new-look Todak side who will be playing without star man Muhammad Danial “Cikugais” bin Mohamad Fuad.
