ONIC Philippines sends RRQ Hoshi packing in Snapdragon Pro Series S6 APAC Challenge Finals playoffs
JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia – The Kingdom falls once again at the hands of the Filipinos.
RRQ Hoshi once again will leave another international tournament without a trophy as they conceded a 2-1 loss at the hands of MPL Philippines Season 14 champions ONIC Philippines Friday inside the Persada Johor International Convention Centre.
The Kings of Kings proceed to win Game 1 but had failed to close the series, with the world champs pulling off a reverse sweep to send the Indonesian team home.
Muhammad “Toyy” Rizky led RRQ to Game 1 with nine kills and five assists on the Karrie as they prevented Frince Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Valentina to dominate the midlane.
The Filipino mage specialist fell down four times, while Jan Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez’s Hilda was shut down six times by the Indonesians.
However, ONIC PH managed to even the score thanks to a masterful performance from Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ Granger.
Kelra tallied ten kills and four assists, closing the game with a savage against all five RRQ members before locking on the base.
Former RRQ Hoshi player Borris James “Brusko” Parro delivered for his team, assisting 14 of 16 kills with the Gatotkaca.
The Super Family went to Game 3 in rampage mode, mauling RRQ 10-1 as Super Frince’s Faramis put up a kill and eight assists without falling once.
Not even Arthur “Sutsujin” Sunarkho’s surprise Hayabusa pick mattered as he failed to get an kill, assist, or major objective while falling twice in 11 minutes.
ONIC PH will proceed to an all-Filipino upper bracket semifinals showdown against top-seeded Team Falcons PH tomorrow.
Bigetron Alpha will also join RRQ Hoshi back to Indonesia, with the Red Robots falling to ONIC Esports 2-1.
