ONIC PH kicks off Snapdragon Mobile Masters with clean slate; Falcons PH recover after early slip
JAKARTA, Indonesia – ONIC Philippines made a statement in their Snapdragon Pro Series Mobile Masters debut, notching back-to-back wins to top Group A, while Team Falcons PH bounced back strong after an opening loss as Day 1 of the tournament unfolded on Monday.
The M6 world champions made quick work of China’s YBINGAME and Indonesia’s Team Liquid ID to go 2-0, while Falcons PH dropped their opener against ONIC Esports before rallying for a dominant win over Aurora Türkiye.
Sonics start hot with two dominant wins
ONIC Philippines wasted no time asserting their dominance in Group A, sweeping YBINGAME and avenging their M6 Grand Finals defeat with a clinical takedown of Team Liquid Indonesia.
Chinese squad YBINGAME, featuring former MDL Philippines talents Luke Andrei “Lucas” Reodica and Rainer “Ares” Ugdiman, couldn’t find answers against the Filipinos. Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ Granger popped off in Game 1 with a 7/0/2 KDA, while Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez provided the control from the backline with nine assists on the Pharsa.
Game 2 was a 22-4 masterclass that lasted only 11 minutes. Super Frince’s Zhuxin dictated the tempo with two kills and 16 assists, while YBG’s “Fishgod” on the Phoveus crumbled under pressure, recording seven deaths.
The Sonics kept the momentum rolling in their next match against Team Liquid ID. After falling in Game 1 thanks to a stellar performance from Sultan “AeronnShikii” Muhammad’s Granger (6/1/5), ONIC flipped the script.
King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez led the charge in Game 2 with a standout 6/1/9 performance on Suyou, steamrolling the Indonesian squad 18-3. Kelra then sealed the sweep with a flashy Harith game, racking up six kills and six assists in a 21-minute closer.
Falcons PH shake off early stumble, soar past Aurora Türkiye
It was a shaky start for Team Falcons PH as they dropped their first series against ONIC Indonesia, falling in three games.
Gilang “S A N Z” put the Green Falcons on the back foot in Game 1 with a monster Cecilion performance in a 22-minute slugfest. Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano answered back with a steady Moskov game (5/1/3) to force a decider, but Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol had other plans.
The M5 standout made Falcons PH pay in Game 3, dishing out a 7/1/8 Hanzo clinic to shut the door with an 18-5 finish.
The Filipino squad quickly regrouped in their second series. Against Aurora Türkiye, they came out with an 18-5 Game 1 win off the back of Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo’s steady support on Kalea (2/2/11).
Game 2 was even more lopsided as the Falcons dismantled Aurora’s Alice-Angela combo. Super Marco turned up the heat with eight kills and three assists on the Granger to cap off a 14-2 sweep.
Both ONIC PH and Team Falcons PH return to action tomorrow as they continue their quest for the Snapdragon Mobile Masters crown and the lion’s share of the $200,000 prize pool.
