ONIC PH Survives Twisted Minds, Aurora Dominates Falcons to Close MPL PH S15 First Half

MAKATI – The first half of MPL Philippines Season 15 has officially wrapped up, with ONIC Philippines and Aurora Gaming asserting their dominance.

ONIC PH barely escaped a tenacious Twisted Minds squad in a hard-fought 2-1 series, while Aurora Gaming swept Team Falcons PH in convincing fashion, solidifying their spot as the best team in the league so far.

ONIC PH Overcomes Twisted Minds Scare

The defending MPL PH champions had a shaky start, dropping Game 1 to Twisted Minds PH after James “Jeymz” Gloria’s Phoveus took over. Jeymz earned MVP honors with a 4/0/8 performance, giving ONIC’s Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez a tough time as his Lukas suffered five of ONIC’s 14 total deaths.

ONIC bounced back in Game 2, fueled by a monstrous performance from Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ Karrie, who racked up 10 kills and 2 assists in a grueling 23-minute game. Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Cecilion also stepped up, notching 12 assists as ONIC forced a decider.

The M6 MVP delivered once again in Game 3, as Kelra’s Harith dominated with a flawless 7/0/6 KDA in a 16-minute victory. Despite Coach Kristoffer “Bon Chan” Ricaplaza drafting a surprise Guinevere roamer for Jomarie “Escalera” delos Santos, Twisted Minds struggled with sustain, allowing ONIC’s Kirk and Borris “Brusko” Parro to close out the series.

With the win, ONIC finishes the first half of the season strong, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the second half.

Aurora Too Bright for Falcons PH

Michael “KyleTzy” Sayson’s Joy led Falcons in Game 1 with five kills and three assists, but Aurora controlled the map, denying him any major objectives. Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse’s Badang stole the show, securing MVP honors with 2/0/16 KDA, while Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto’s Hayabusa dominated the jungle with 10 kills and 9 assists.

Aurora needed just 10 minutes to close out Game 2, thanks to a backdoor play from Jan Dominic “Domengkite” del Mundo’s Moskov. Despite posting just 1 kill and 1 assist, Domengkite sneaked into Falcons’ base during a 4v5 clash, ending the game before Falcons could react.

Renejay’s surprise Franco pick also proved game-changing, as he disrupted multiple Falcons plays, particularly shutting down KyleTzy’s Lukas in key jungle skirmishes.
