ONIC PH, Falcons PH starts Snapdragon Pro Series S6 Challenge Finals on positive note; Aurora skids to 0-2

JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia – Both Team Falcons PH and ONIC Philippines kicked off their ESL Snapdragon Pro Series Season 6 APAC Challenge Finals on a high note, each securing a 2-0 record to start the group stage on Monday.

The MPL Philippines champions currently lead Group A alongside MPL Indonesia champions Team Liquid ID and MPL Malaysia titleholders Selangor Red Giants. Meanwhile, Team Falcons sat atop Group B as the only undefeated side in the six-team group.

Same Old, Same Old

ONIC PH started their campaign with a 12-7 Game 1 win over Indonesian side Bigetron Alpha, with King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez securing four kills and three assists with the Suyou. Gold standard Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas also delivered, tallying four kills with Moskov, including a mid-air Spear of Destruction to take down Kenneth “Super Kenn” Marcello’s Fanny.

EXP laner Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez’s Hilda worked wonders with four kills and two assists, leading ONIC PH to a quick 2-0 sweep. BTR’s Luke Febrian “Luke” Valentinus had no answers to his attacks, falling five times in just 10 minutes.

K1NGKONG led the charge for the Super Family in their second series against Cambodian side See You Soon. Frince Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez went into unreal mode, racking up three kills and five assists in a nine-minute match with Cecilion.

The Monster Mage delivered another stellar performance in Game 2, finishing with a 5/1/12 stat line on Zhuxin in barely 11 minutes. Dean Christian “Raizen” Sumagui’s Suyou, however, struggled, conceding five deaths.

Flight of the Falcons

Team Falcons began their SPS journey with a 6-13 loss against Indonesian side ONIC Esports. Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel’s Vexana endured a rough 13-minute affair, managing only three assists.

Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano’s Granger bounced back in Game 2, leading Falcons PH to a dominant 12-4 victory over ONIC. The prized gold laner racked up eight kills and four assists.

It was a similar story in their second series as they conceded a close 17-11 loss against EVOS Holy. However, the Indonesian side found no answers in Games 2 and 3, where Michael Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson’s Joy proved to be unstoppable.

Dimmer Light to Start the Show

Aurora, however, had a different story, finding themselves at the bottom of their group table after two matches.

Their struggles began in their tournament debut against Myanmar’s Falcon Esports, who handed them a 0-2 loss thanks to standout performances from Kaung “Daxx” Sett and Min “Beni” Swan Kon.

Things worsened for the Northern Lights as they fell to RRQ Hoshi in their second match of the week.

Muhammad “Toyy” Rizky stepped up in place of the absent Skylar for RRQ, while Arthur “Sutsujin” Sunarkho proved too powerful for the Kings.
