ONIC PH books ticket to MPL PH Season 15 playoffs; Aurora cruises past AP.Bren to boost top two bid

MAKATI – ONIC Philippines clinched a playoff spot in MPL Philippines Season 15, while Aurora Gaming strengthened their push for an upper bracket finish after dispatching AP.Bren on Friday to open Week 6 of the regular season.

The Super Family made quick work of Team Falcons PH in a clean sweep, while the Northern Lights repeated their mastery over the Bees.

Super ONIC speed

The defending champions didn’t waste time in Game 1, dominating the Green Falcons in under 12 minutes behind a Luo Yi–Kalea combo and their staple pick, Suyou.

Borris “Brusko” Parro starred with Kalea in roam, notching two kills and 10 assists in an 18–5 demolition of their fellow Snapdragon Pro Series Mobile Masters representatives. Frince Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez backed him up with five kills and eight assists, while Team Falcons PH’s Michael “KyleTzy” Sayson struggled with a quiet 1/4/2 on Joy.

Game 2 told the same story, with ONIC PH overwhelming the M5-winning core, 15–5. Duane “Kelra” Pillas led the way with eight kills and three assists using his signature Beatrix.

It was another off night for David “FlapTzy” Canon, whose Gatotkaca only recorded a single assist while dying five times.

With the 2–0 win, ONIC PH became the second team to secure a playoff berth, while Team Falcons PH will look to bounce back in their next match against Twisted Minds PH for another shot at a postseason ticket.

Kite Brothers light up the campaign

Jan Dominic “Domengkite” del Mundo and Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto led the charge for Aurora Gaming, who continued their dominant run by sweeping AP.Bren.

Domengkite’s Moskov was a gold lane menace in Game 1, tallying six kills and six assists in a 14–4 beatdown. Midlaner Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo broke out of ban jail with a Zhuxin pick, putting up 12 assists and one kill in a clean showing.

AP.Bren struggled to find footing, with Jan Carl “Shizou” Valdez’s Karrie ending with just one assist and three deaths, while James “JamesPangks” Mendoza failed to secure any major objectives.

Game 2 saw Demonkite shine with a strong Hayabusa performance, posting seven kills and three assists in a swift 13-minute win, 12–6. Edward Jay “Edward” Dapadap took an unorthodox EXP Valentina to counter Landher “Der” San Gabriel’s Lukas, ending with five assists as the mage-turned-bruiser made his presence felt.

Even though JamesPangks’ Suyou secured all three turtles, Aurora’s lone Lord take was enough to close the match.

With the win, Aurora improved to 9–1 and now sets their sights on Smart Omega on April 26 after enjoying a nearly three-week break. Meanwhile, AP.Bren will aim to bounce back in their next match against Team Liquid PH.
