NA’s bestplayer1 after BTK-Vamos match taunt: ‘I will never let that slide’
PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia – North American top team BloodThirstyKings and MPL Malaysia runners-up Team Vamos brought attention and hype to an already-hyped M6 World Championship when the two teams faced off last Thursday.
BTK, who had Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun as their face and star player, dropped choice words on the Malaysian MLBB server and scene before the start of the tournament, which sparked controversy and reaction from the host country’s faithful.
With Team Vamos sweeping their bitter rivals 2-0 in a best-of-three series, Muhammad Nazhan “Chibi” bin Mohd Nor shouted at the front of BTK players, alongside Filipino gold laner Kenneth “Nets” Barro who ran first before the Malaysian jungler taunting the NA reps.
Nets, not over from his after-game antics, danced each fist bump at the end of the game before waving goodbyes to BTK, who bowed out of playoff contention.
While home fans and some online supporters were amused, North American pro player Carlos “bestplayer1” Vega saw it differently.
“Who is that guy? What is he yelling to?” he said in his livestream, referring to Nets which he will recognize later.
“No way! I would never let that slide, no f**king way!” he added.
The former Cloud9 MLBB player seemingly made a vow to grind harder just to get one back after the incident.
“Alright, now it’s personal. I will do everything I can to make it to the next international. I will never in my life let that slide,” said bestplayer1, dropping more expletives saying he’ll beat Malaysia for North America.
Vega repeatedly expressed his disbelief at what transpired after the event while feeling bad for the rest of the BTK squad.
“I might have not went to M6, but I’ll do my best to go to the next international. I promise,” said bestplayer1
TheOhioBrothers, led by bestplayer1 and current BTK members Jang “Hoon” Seong-hun, Ziameth-Jei “ZIA” Caluya, and Vo “SHARK” Thanh Trung, eliminated HomeBois—comprised of current Vamos players Chibi, Rizky “Warlord” Agustian, Mohammad Zul Hisham “Xorn” Bin Mohd Noor, and Muhammad Irfan “Sepat” bin Aujang—from the M5 World Championship alongside them.
With roster movements happening in 2024, MobaZane and bestplayer1 swapped teams before the North American Challenger Tournament 2024 Fall season, which ended in MobaZane’s BTK reverse-sweeping bestplayer1’s Cloud9 after falling behind 0-3.
