MPL Philippines Season 16 Playoffs Head to Cuneta Astrodome

MAKATI–  A new chapter in Philippine esports is set.

The MPL Philippines announce that the Season 16 Playoffs will take place at the historic Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City from October 22 to 26 on Monday.

For the first time, the league will stage the playoffs inside an arena, welcoming up to 2,000 fans per day. The Astrodome, once celebrated as the “Home of the PBA,” will now serve as the biggest playoff venue in league history. This marks the first time a professional mobile esports event takes over the iconic venue.

League and venue leaders mark the milestone

“This move to the Cuneta Astrodome marks a historic step for MPL Philippines as we celebrate the eras of the league with our fans,” said Lee Viloria, PH Esports Head of BD and Partnerships at MOONTON Games. “This iconic venue has been home to unforgettable moments in Philippine sports, and now, it will also stand as the stage where Filipino esports continues to make history.”

The Cuneta Astrodome management echoed the sentiment. “With MPL Philippines at the forefront, we see that esports is no longer just a game, but a sport, career, and community that inspires millions,” said Garry Reyala, Administration Officer at Cuneta Astrodome. “Just as we once became the home of basketball, we are proud to be a home for esports.”

Superfan City and community activities

Alongside the Playoffs, MPL Philippines will introduce the MPL Festival Superfan City, an open-space cultural showcase at the Cuneta grounds from October 22 to 26. The free walk-in event will feature MLBB cosplay showcases, sponsor booths with exclusive giveaways, fan meet-and-greets, live watch parties, and interactive activities for the community.

Fans can also look forward to the Community Parade, a march from Superfan City into the MPL Arena, and the return of the Infinix Fansiklaban Cup, where fans form 5v5 squads to represent their favorite MPL teams.
