MPL PH, Sony Music Philippines Forges Partnership Ahead of S16 Playoffs
MANILA – In a landmark move ahead of the Season 16 Playoffs, MPL Philippines has partnered with global powerhouse Sony Music Philippines. The alliance looks to set the stage for one of the year’s most dynamic crossovers.
Music Meets the Meta
For MPL Philippines, this partnership directly supports its core mission.
Lee Viloria, PH Esports Head of Business Development and Partnerships at MOONTON Games, framed the collaboration as taking the elevation of Filipino talent “to a whole new level.”
“It marks a major step forward in integrated entertainment and sets a precedent for future collaborations between esports and entertainment sectors,” she said.
Roslyn Pineda, General Manager of Sony Music Philippines, mirrored that sentiment. She said the shared vision is a “celebration of youth culture” that merges music and esports to inspire creativity and connection.
“Sony Music Philippines is thrilled to collaborate with prestigious esports league MPL Philippines and align our shared vision of creating experiences that showcase the best of Filipino talent,” she said.
The Artist Lineup Hits the MPL Arena

The Season 16 Playoffs will turn into a true festival for music and esports. Sony Music artists are confirmed to perform across two key venues at the Cuneta Astrodome. First is the MPL Arena, which holds around 2,000 paid offline spectators. The other one is the MPL Festival Superfan City, a cultural showcase for the MLBB community free-of-charge.
The opening day features Barq (Arkin Magalona), the rising Filipino hip-hop artist and son of the iconic Francis M. The momentum continues on the following day with UNXPCTD, the rap collective behind the viral hit “Pass Sa Lowkey.”
Later in the weekend, popular Filipino rock band Nobita will headline the MPL Festival Superfan City on October 25. Capping off the entire event on Grand Finals Day is singer-songwriter Ace Banzuelo, known for “Muli.” He will perform at both the MPL Festival Superfan City and the main MPL Arena.
This collaboration is a clear sign that the MPL PH is transforming its biggest tournament into a major cultural moment. Both MPL and Sony Music aims to show how the lines between competitive gaming and mainstream entertainment are quickly dissolving.
