TNC Clinches MPL PH Season 15 Playoff Berth Despite Loss to Twisted Minds; Team Liquid PH Sweeps Smart Omega
MAKATI – TNC Pro Team books an MPL PH Season 15 playoff berth despite a 2-0 loss to Twisted Minds, while Team Liquid PH sweeps Smart Omega to claim their 10th win of the season on Sunday.
Twisted Minds shock TNC as Outplayed leads the charge
Twisted Minds PH finally found their rhythm late in the season as they pulled off a stunning 2-0 sweep over playoff-bound TNC Pro Team, snapping a four-series losing streak and improving to 2-9 in the standings.
Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar took center stage with a pair of stellar performances on Granger, combining for 13 kills, one death, and five assists across both games to earn back-to-back MVP honors.
TNC fielded Justine “Zaida” Palma in place of Kyle “Koyl” Reyes, but struggled to find their groove, particularly in Game 1. Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s Jawhead suffered a rough outing, going 0/8/3, while Jomarie “Escalera” delos Santos managed to steady the team with a 0/3/11 Tigreal showing and well-timed Implosions in a scrappy 26-minute opener.
Game 2 told a different story. Twisted Minds dominated from start to finish, closing the series in a 7-1 fashion. Zaida’s debut on Suyou was shaky, giving up three deaths, while Michael “MP The King” Endino surprised with a returning Alpha pick to seal the win.
Twisted Minds, now at 2-9, remain in contention for the sixth and final spot.
Team Liquid PH continues hot streak, shuts down Smart Omega
In the second series of the day, Team Liquid PH showed why they remain title favorites with a commanding 2-0 victory over a struggling Smart Omega, improving their record to 10-1 and solidifying their position at the top of the standings.
Kiel “Oheb” Soriano and Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, dubbed the “Babycakes Duo”, were once again instrumental in the win. Oheb led the Game 1 onslaught with a 9/1/3 performance on Granger as Liquid secured a dominant 16-3 victory. Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s Zhuxin kept Omega’s Pharsa, piloted by Jayson “UK1R” Alupit, in check, while Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog’s Badang was neutralized early with an 0/8/1 finish.
Game 2 was more contested early on, with Jomari “Jowm” Pingol posting a solid 2/0/6 statline on Harith to give Omega an early lead. However, Liquid recovered with methodical map control and superior teamfighting.
KarlTzy claimed MVP honors on Joy with a 6/0/12 outing, while Jaypee “Jaypee” dela Cruz delivered clutch Chou sets that disrupted Omega’s frontliners, particularly Louis “Louis” Ariola’s Edith.
With the result, Smart Omega dropped to 1-9, with their playoff hopes in danger. TNC Pro Team, by virtue of their five-win total, secured their place in the postseason.
