MDL Philippines Season 5 Play-In Bracket Set After Seeding Stage Concludes

QUEZON CITY – The seeding stage for MDL Philippines Season 5 has officially concluded, and the play-in bracket is now set, bringing us one step closer to the highly anticipated knockout rounds.

After two action-packed weeks, 16 teams have secured their positions in the play-ins, where they’ll battle it out for the remaining playoff spots. This year’s edition of the competition promises to be as competitive as ever, with a mix of veteran teams and rising stars from the Philippines’ Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports scene.

Smart Omega NEOS Stand Tall at the Top

Smart Omega NEOS has earned the top seed in the play-ins, maintaining their dominance throughout the seeding stage. After sweeping both Team Liquid Academy PH and AP.Bren Rough World in Bracket A, Omega NEOS showed their strength, with standout performances like Sica’s stellar play on Selena, finishing with a 3/3/15 KDA against APRW. Kyureem’s Chou also turned the tide in Omega’s favor during Game 2, further solidifying their position as the team to beat.

Team Liquid Academy PH secured the second seed after bouncing back from an opening loss to Omega NEOS. Their victories over Team Falcons Academy and AP.Bren Rough World pushed them to a strong position, setting up a promising run in the play-ins. AP.Bren Rough World ended the seeding stage in third, while Team Falcons Academy dropped to fourth after consecutive losses.

ONIC Nine Lives Show Consistency in Group B

ONIC Nine Lives clinched the top spot in Group B after impressive wins over Martial Mayhem and RRQ Kaito. Their ability to maintain control throughout their matches was key to their success. Meanwhile, RRQ Kaito found some redemption after a rough start, sweeping Karibok Heroes to claim the sixth spot.

Karibok Heroes finished in seventh place after their narrow defeat to Martial Mayhem, while the latter ended up in the eighth position.

Minerva Esports Dominate Bracket C

Minerva Esports proved themselves as the best team in Group C, securing two solid wins against Metacore CE and Aurora Hunters. Their clean sweep against Metacore helped cement their place in the play-ins, while Aurora Hunters fell to the 10th seed despite a win over Metacore in their final match.

Flair Esports rounded out the group in 12th place after dropping both of their matches.

Uncle Drew Gamerpact Reigns Supreme in Bracket D

The reigning LCP MLBB champions, Uncle Drew Gamerpact, impressed by sweeping Twisted Rising and TNC Voltes to top Bracket D. However, the competition wasn’t as kind to Twisted Rising, who settled to 14th place after a hard-fought battle with TNC.

Gods of Edith, still without a series victory, struggled throughout the stage, ending their run in 16th place after suffering back-to-back losses to TNC Voltes and TMR.

Play-In Matchups Set

The play-in round is now set to begin, with intense matchups on the horizon. Omega NEOS, as the top seed, will face the bottom-seeded Gods of Edith in the first round, while the winner of that match will take on the victor of the match between Martial Mayhem and Minerva Esports.

Team Falcons Academy will square off against Uncle Drew Gamerpact in what promises to be an exciting sibling rivalry, while ONIC Nine Lives will take on Flair Esports in another compelling matchup.

AP.Bren RWE, meanwhile, will have to go through Twisted Rising to advance to the next stage, while RRQ Kaito will take on Metacore CE in their own clash.

Team Liquid Academy PH, as the second seed, will face off against 15th-seeded TNC Voltes PH in the first round, with the winner advancing to face either Karibok Heroes or Aurora Hunters for the final playoff spot.

Play-In Format and What’s at Stake

The play-ins will kick off on April 22, with the first round of matches played in a best-of-three format. The second round will see the remaining teams go head-to-head in a best-of-five series, with the victor of each bracket earning a coveted spot in the four-team playoff round.

The competition will follow global ban-pick rules, with no hero being allowed for use by the same team more than once in a series. With the stakes this high, expect teams to bring their best strategies and adaptations to the table in what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to MDL Philippines Season 5.
