MCGG opens road to first international tournament with Rising Stars launch
SINGAPORE — MOONTON Games is opening the gates to the first-ever Magic Chess: Go Go (MCGG) international tournament, starting 12 September with the launch of MCGG Rising Stars (MRS).
The new in-game feature gives players around the world the chance to compete directly for a slot an international event.
MRS introduces a competitive pathway built on two stages: Open Qualifiers and Division Finals. The Open Qualifiers run across six weekends from 12 September to 19 October, open to all players without registration. Much like MLBB’s Rising Open, matches take place Fridays to Sundays.
Seven divisions will host qualifiers: Asia, Eastern Europe & Central Asia (EECA), Europe, Indonesia, Latin America, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Players will battle through six stages to earn the title of Rising Star. Each offers rewards, including exclusive titles and a special skin, before advancing to the Division Finals. Winners from each division will move one step closer on the road qualifying for the international stage. The tournament, named the GO1 World Championship, will crown the first-ever MCGG world champion.
“The upcoming MCGG international tournament is our most exciting stage yet. We can’t wait to see our players from around the world showcase their skills and make their mark as international champions,” said Gao “Skyhook” Chong, MCGG Producer at MOONTON Games.
The launch of MRS follows MCGG’s Season 3: Cosmic Traders. The new season introduced new synergies, a commander ranking system, and updates to the bidding arena. It also builds on the success of grassroots events like the MCGG Indonesia Community Tournament (MCCT ID), which recently surpassed one million views across official platforms.
With Rising Stars, MOONTON expands MCGG esports to the global stage, aiming to create an inclusive ecosystem where every player has a chance to rise.
