Magic Chess: Go Go to launch globally on May 28
After months of anticipation and a successful regional debut, MOONTON Games is officially launching Magic Chess: Go Go (MCGG) worldwide on May 28, 2025. The game will open its doors to global players just as Season 2: Blessing of Embers begins, building on the title’s momentum in Southeast Asia.
Developed by the original team behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, MCGG is a fast-paced, eight-player PvP auto battler set in the MLBB universe. Players deploy familiar MLBB heroes onto a chessboard, unlocking faction-based Synergies and battling it out through strategic hero positioning, upgrades, and combos to be the last one standing.
MCGG initially launched during the APAC Grand Launch on February 21 in eight countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Since then, it has amassed over 20 million pre-registrations, with strong traction in both casual and competitive circles. The game has already seen the rise of a grassroots esports scene, headlined by the Magic Chess: Go Go Indonesia Community Tournament (MCCT ID), which drew thousands of players and viewers.
Season 2: Blessing of Embers introduces fresh mechanics
MCGG’s second season brings both nostalgic and brand-new features. The centerpiece of the update is the return of the Blessing mechanic—a fan-favorite system from the original Magic Chess. Players who ascend three or more of the same hero to the same level now have a chance to receive a Blessing, which grants an additional Synergy or Role to that hero.
This new layer of depth allows players to aim for the coveted Ultra Synergy: a powerful buff unlocked by deploying six heroes from the same faction, enhanced through Blessings and Magic Crystal bonuses.
Season 2 also introduces six new Synergies, expanding the strategic possibilities to ten unique factional bonuses that can shift the tide of any match. These new additions center around a divine conflict theme, pitting Gods versus Demons with dramatic effects on the board.
“The new Blessing mechanism was one of the most popular from the original Magic Chess, so we decided to bring it back for Season 2 of MCGG,” said Gao “Skyhook” Chong, MCGG Producer at MOONTON Games. “It’ll be a blast from the past for old players, and a fresh way for new players to enjoy the game.”
Ready for a global stage
The Global Launch means players worldwide will now have access to MCGG on both iOS and Android, joining the Southeast Asian community that has already helped shape the game’s early success. MOONTON Games aims to further develop the game’s competitive ecosystem with more regional tournaments, creator collaborations, and ongoing updates tailored for global audiences.
With its blend of accessible gameplay, strategic depth, and MLBB nostalgia, Magic Chess: Go Go is shaping up to be a major contender in the mobile strategy game space.
MCGG will be available for download globally starting May 28, 2025.
