Is Aurora Philippines MLBB a Super Team?
The new kids on the block, or should we say the new team on the block with veteran players in the MPL Philippines scene. Let’s not sugar coat it, they basically took the core of Blacklist international, Edward, Renejay, Yue, Coach Master the Basics, together with their VeeWise Ambassadors, they also took in Domeng from Minana, Benthings from TNC and Demonkite formerly RSG. On paper the team seems to be packed with enough MLBB talent to win them or place high in the season.
Well that is not always the case. There are other factors that affect the teams performance. The team always more than the sum of their parts. The two dominant teams currently in the local scene, Falcon AP Bren, Team Liquid Philippines have been together more than 2 seasons and have adapted to each other’s tendencies. Their communication and read of the game is on point. The newly minted team Aurora although their core has had experience playing with each other, but in a new line up and new environment is a totally different situation.
The team has to adjust to the different personalities, tendencies and game play. Yes each member has vast gaming local and international experience, but cohesion takes time. I have been covering the MLBB Scene since the tail end of 2022 since season 10 goin into M4. So my take that it might take at least a season for the team to be firing on all cylinders. Best cast scenario, they make it to playoffs at the tail end of the teams, worst case is they barely make it.
Ok, you might be saying that I might be judging the tea even before they played their first game. Well to be honest, I watched their 2 Supernova tournament games and though they showed flashes of brilliance, at their level of play, that simply is not enough. They were dominated by Team Liquid Philippines, and to my surprise they were pushed to the limit and eventually loosing to MadBulls from the CIS. The matches they had mostly showcased their individual skill and brilliance, they still lack cohesive combination execution and plays.
The team still has enough time to jell and be cohesive, but nothing beats experience. Building a championship teams takes time and belief in a system. That formula has worked for the top 2 teams in the MPL Philippines. That will still hold true to the up and coming teams.
The upcoming season will be very interesting. The first half of the season will be the team’s litmus test on how they stack up with the competition. Things are getting very exciting can’t wait for the start of the new season.
