Fnatic ONIC PH secures upper bracket finals ticket after full five-game series vs. Myanmar’s Falcon
PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia – Fnatic ONIC Philippines snags their M6 World Championship upper bracket finals spot as they avoid a reverse sweep from Myanmar champions Falcon Esports on Sunday.
It took Fnatic ONIC all five games to beat Falcon, with a crucial series of plays in Game 5 sealing the deal for the Filipino league champions.
Two straight wins for the Super Fam
Duane “Kelra” Pillas led Game 1 with a 9/0/5 performance from the Bruno after an 11-minute burst from Fnatic ONIC PH as they decimated Falcons with 16 kills.
An all-out brawl in the fourth minute marked the start of the FNOP snowball, shutting down Arkar “Royal Milk” Bhone Pyae’s Phoveus by luring his ultimate.
FNOP doubled-down on Falcon with a 15-4 beatdown in Game 2 but took them longer with a more sustain-based five for the Burmese five.
Frince Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Pharsa tallied four kills and eight assists to lead the team, while King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez’s Joy put up six and five, both not conceding a single death.
Flight of the Falcon
Falcon fought back in Game 3 courtesy of the deadly Mathilda-Bruno combo from Yehtet “KidX” Sithu and Min “Beni” Swan Kon, combining for four kills and 18 assists in 11 minutes.
Super Frince had a quiet game as his Vexana only assisted three and was neutralized by Yar “Px7” Zar Mon’s Pharsa who got three kills and assisted six.
Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez was on the receiving end of a Game 4 beatdown as he fell five times in an almost 18-minute Falcon win in Game 4.
Px7 once more prevailed, now using the Aurora, as he put up three kills and six assists, while KidX and Royal Milk’s Gatotkaca and Hilda combo–powered with the double revitalize–gave them sustains in prolonged team fights.
Game. Set. Match.
The mid-lane duo of Super Frince and Borris “Brusko” Parro get to work in Game 5, getting the Yve and Khaleed for AOE to counter the Hylos-Tigreal set-ups from Falcon.
Despite FNOP banning Bruno, Beni still had a good game as he went with the Granger instead and put up a respectable five kills and four assists.
However, his tally went naught as a crucial bush check from Super Frince revealed KidX’s Tigreal’s behind-the-back play while he and Brusko’s combo of the Real-World Manipulation and the Raging Sandstorm proved to be fatal.
Beni, left all alone, was forced to defend alone against three Fnatic ONIC PH heroes to no avail as the latter went for the GG push.
Fnatic ONIC Philippines, now assured of at least a top-three finish, will go against the winner of the all-Indo clash between Team Liquid PH and RRQ Hoshi.
