Aurora Türkiye stuns ONIC PH with 2-1 upset in MSC 2025 opener
RIYADH – Aurora Türkiye opens their MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025 campaign with a stunning 2-1 upset over ONIC Philippines, making a statement in Group B.
The Türkiye league champions, backed by Filipino coaches Aniel “MasterTheBasics” Jiandani and Dexter “Dex Star” Alaba, shocked the MPL Philippines runners-up with a Game 1 takedown and a late-game surge in Game 3 to secure the series.
Sidar “Tienzy” Menteşe led the charge with a flawless Lancelot performance in the opener. The Turkish star jungler notched 13 kills and six assists without a single death. Teammate Şiyar “Sigibum” Akbulut’s Ixia complemented with four kills and 11 assists.
ONIC’s midlaner Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez struggled on his Valir pick, dying seven times and failing to create impact in the midlane.
ONIC responded in Game 2 with a clinical performance led by King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez, who delivered six kills and eight assists with his own Lancelot. Duane “Kelra” Pillas also stepped up with an eight-kill Granger outing. Mehmet Ibrahim “Lunar” Ilgun bore the brunt of the damage, recording six deaths on his Phoevus without a kill.
Game 3 proved to be a nail-biter, with both teams trading blows across a 20-minute standoff. But it was Furkan “APEX47” Akbulut’s Gatotkaca who made the difference.
The roamer catched Kelra’s signature Beatrix with a decisive Avatar of the Guardian initiation. With the Gold Standard down, Aurora stormed ONIC’s base and completed the upset.
The win puts Aurora Türkiye in strong position for a playoff spot. ONIC Philippines meanwhile drops to the lower bracket and now faces an uphill climb toward playoff contention.
In other Group B results, RRQ Hoshi cruised past Area 77 from North America. Malaysia’s HomeBois survived a late push from Singapore’s Team Flash.
