MANILA – MPL Philippines Season 14 runners-up Aurora MLBB drops to the decider match as they failed to secure an outright ticket to the Challenge Finals with a close 1-2 defeat against Indonesian side Bigetron Alpha on Friday.
The Northern Lights will have to battle out Todak once more, who won 2-1 against Myanmar’s AI Esports, in a rematch of the Day 2 face-off, while Bigetron spoiled Aurora’s chance to not just get a quicker ticket to Johor, but also to get a win at Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto’s birthday.
Aurora won the first game in comfortable fashion, getting a 19-10 scoreline off from a great performance from Demonkite’s Suyou and Edward Jay “Edward” Dapadap’s Phoveus, getting KDA ratios of 16 and 10, respectively.
Kenneth Carl “Yue” Tadeo also stood out with his Valentina getting four kills and 12 assists as they limited BTS’s offense by taking out “Pamelaa” and his Chou, who fell down five times and only assisting seven.
Bigetron however fought back in Game 2 as they won a crucial team fight in the 14th minute thanks to Luke Febrian “Luke” Valentinus’s Phoveus providing vital plays to force Demonkite to retreat and four Aurora players down the count for an easy lord take.
The Red Robots won another crucial team fight, this time in the 19th minute, as Yue’s Yve was limited to just a kill while being shut down six times, while Marcel Juan Moreno “Moreno” Sinulingga’s Novaria pull off an MVP performance of 1/2/13.
A lengthy 25-minute war happaned in Game 3, with both teams refusing the give down as they went on with their cheese picks, with Luke picking the Badang, while Demonkite was handed the Fanny which was left open.
Despite Aurora leading to the 24th minute, Kenneth “Super Kenn” Marcello stole the lord away from the Filipino team’s hands while Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse’s Tigreal went down the count, forcing Aurora to retreat.
As Edward and Jan Dominic “Domeng” del Mundo were taken out, Demonkite and Yue was left to defend to their own demise as Bigetron Alpha sneaks in with the win with Eman “Emann” Sangco’s Harith getting 11 kills and 2 assists.
Bigetron will join ONIC Philippines, RRQ Hoshi, and EVOS Glory to the Challenge Finals, while Aurora joins Team Liquid PH and Blacklist International on the last eight teams to battle for the last two spots.
