Kalea makes MPL debut as Aurora sweeps Twisted Minds
New hero Kalea made her MPL debut as Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse secured her in the first draft. The Surging Wave finished with a 0/4/8 KDA, but it was the “Kite Brothers” who led Aurora to a 13-8 Game 1 victory in just over 15 minutes.
Jan Dominic “Domengkite” del Mundo’s Granger was unstoppable, tallying six kills and four assists, while Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto’s Lukas contributed four kills and five assists.
Despite Michael “MP The King” Endino’s four-kill effort, Twisted Minds struggled to contest objectives, conceding the only Lord of the game to Aurora, who never looked back.
Game 2 was an even quicker affair as Domengkite’s Granger popped off with 11 kills and four assists, while Renejay’s Franco played a crucial role with multiple key Iron Hooks, finishing with one kill and nine assists.
Both James “Jeymz” Gloria and Jomarie “Escalera” delos Santos found themselves heavily targeted, suffering five deaths each as Twisted Minds fell in just 13 minutes.
With the victory, Aurora Gaming inched closer to a playoff berth and will next face Season 14 finals rival ONIC Philippines. Meanwhile, Twisted Minds PH will look to bounce back against Team Liquid PH on Sunday.
ONIC PH holds off TNC in tight series
The defending champions ONIC Philippines needed 18 minutes in Game 1 to take down TNC Pro Team PH, with Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s Kalea showing promise but ultimately falling short.
Duane “Kelra” Pillas led the Super Family with a 7/1/1 performance, while Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Zhuxin provided seven assists despite suffering two deaths. ONIC controlled the jungle throughout the game, securing all three Lords and two of three Turtles.
Game 2 saw TNC put up a much stronger fight, even securing a late-game lead. Bennyqt electrified the crowd with a Savage at the 10th-minute mark, wiping out ONIC with his Granger in the top lane.
However, momentum swung back to ONIC when Yawi’s Chou initiated a decisive clash near the Lord pit, setting up the Super Family for a game-winning push. Kelra’s Harith closed the series in style, finishing with 10 kills and an assist as ONIC stormed into TNC’s base for the win.
Next up, ONIC Philippines and Aurora Gaming will face off in a high-stakes matchup, while TNC Pro Team PH aims to snap their four-game losing streak against AP.Bren.
