Aurora, ONIC PH Close MPL PH Week 3 on a High Note

MAKATI — M6 World Championship and Snapdragon Pro Series representatives Aurora Gaming and ONIC Philippines wrapped up MPL Philippines Season 15 Week 3 with crucial wins on Sunday at Green Sun Hotel.

Aurora Gaming handed TNC Pro Team their second straight loss, while ONIC Philippines snapped a three-series losing streak by defeating the struggling AP.Bren.

The Northern Lights halted the Phoenix

Aurora Gaming kicked off the day with a win, as former Nexplay Esports teammates Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse and Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera faced off for the first time in two seasons.

Despite TNC’s mobile-heavy lineup, it was Renejay’s Tigreal who controlled the tempo, tallying nine assists. Meanwhile, Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto’s Suyou shined with eight kills and two assists, while Yawi’s Jawhead struggled with a 0/6/4 stat line.

Justine “Zaida” Palma led TNC’s Game 2 comeback, picking Suyou and securing 10 kills and six assists. Despite Jan Dominic “Domeng” del Mundo’s stellar 11/1/6 Granger performance, Aurora’s aggressive plays backfired, forcing a decider.

In Game 3, Renejay once again stepped up, securing a kill and five assists in a slow-paced 7-2 victory. Yawi’s Chou became Aurora’s primary target, falling five times—some uncontested.

With this win, Aurora Gaming improved their record, setting up a highly anticipated clash against Team Liquid PH next week. Meanwhile, TNC Pro Team ended the week at 3-2.

ONIC PH Returns to Form

ONIC Philippines showcased their veteran experience against the youthful AP.Bren roster, starting with a 14-6 statement win in Game 1.

Frince Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Selena earned MVP honors, recording four kills and four assists, while King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez dominated the objective battle, securing three Lords and two Turtles in just 13 minutes.

Game 2 was a much closer contest, with Jan Carl “Shizou” Valdez’s Moskov leading AP.Bren with two kills and six assists. However, ONIC’s veteran presence prevailed, sealing the match with a decisive Lord fight in the 17th minute.

The “Sigma King” led the charge, as his Joy pick earned him MVP honors with five kills and three assists, despite falling three times. Meanwhile, James “JamesPangks” Mendoza had a quieter game, contributing one kill and eight assists with Suyou.

This win snapped ONIC PH’s three-series skid after a disappointing Week 2. Meanwhile, AP.Bren remains winless in MPL PH Season 15 as they continue to search for their first victory under their revamped lineup.
