AP.Bren sweeps Uncle Drew Gamerpact to claim Realme Cup S9 title
QUEZON CITY — AP.Bren is back on top.
Just weeks after an early exit in MPL Philippines Season 15, the Bees bounced back in dominant fashion by sweeping defending champions Uncle Drew Gamerpact (UDG), 4-0, to win the Realme Cup Season 9 title last Saturday at SM North EDSA Annex Cyberzone.
Early-game aggression
Playing under global ban-pick rules, AP.Bren wasted no time asserting their dominance. Jan Carl “shizou” Valdez opened the series with a 9-kill, 7-assist Harith in a lightning-fast 10-minute win. Jefferdson “EL Jako” Mogol had 17 assists on Baxia, while Teddyqt’s Wanwan was held to just one kill.
James “JamesPangks” Mendoza continued his hot streak in Game 2 with 11 kills and 9 assists on Leomord, controlling the tempo alongside Landher “der” San Gabriel’s Gloo, who neutralized Kram throughout the match.
Game 3 saw Jerry Ian “chovskrt” Nicol shine as his Valentina helped AP.Bren reach match point with 3 kills and 12 assists. JamesPangks’ Lukas added 6 kills and 7 assists in a strong midgame showing.
Finishing touches
Uncle Drew had their best showing in Game 4, led by Edsley Andrei “Starboy” Sombilla’s 11 kills. However, a clutch shutdown by JamesPangks’ Lancelot turned the tide, and shizou’s Granger closed out the series with 6 kills and 7 assists.
AP.Bren walked away with the Season 9 trophy, ₱600,000, and five realme GT 7 Series phones. UDG settled for ₱250,000 and five realme 14 Pro+ 5G units.
JamesPangks, with a 25/7/25 KDA across four games, earned Finals MVP honors and an additional ₱100,000.
