IESF Selects Malaysia to Host WEC25 MLBB World Championship
The International Esports Federation officially announces that Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will host the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Esports Championship 2025.
In partnership with the Malaysia Esports Federation, the event will take place from December 1 to 7, 2025. It will gather national teams from across the globe for one of the year’s most anticipated tournaments.
20 Nations, 28 Teams, Two Championships
WEC25 MLBB will bring together 20 nations and 28 teams competing across two divisions . 16 teams will compete in the Open Division and 12 teams in the Women’s Division. All of which will battle for international glory on the international stage.
“Malaysia took the initiative to bring this event to Kuala Lumpur, and we are truly proud to be the host of WEC25 MLBB. This is a historic moment for our nation’s esports community, and we look forward to showcasing our ability to organize an event of this scale.” said Muhammad Naim Al Amin Bin Saharudin, President of the Malaysia Esports Federation.
“We are confident that, with the full support of IESF, this championship will inspire athletes and fans alike while leaving a lasting legacy for esports in Malaysia,” he added.
“We are thrilled to confirm Kuala Lumpur as the host city for WEC25 MLBB, under the leadership of MESF. This event highlights IESF’s mission to unite nations and strengthen esports worldwide, with 20 nations and 28 teams competing across both Open and Women’s divisions,” said Boban Totovski, General Secretary of the International Esports Federation.
Totovsky added that IESF believes WEC25 MLBB will set “a new standard of excellence while celebrating the spirit of fair competition.”
MLBB Takes the Solo Spotlight
In a strategic scheduling shift, WEC25 MLBB will stand as a solo global championship in December. This separation allows the federation to dedicate full resources and attention to MLBB.
Meanwhile, the IESF will hold other titles such as Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG Mobile to early 2026. The organization will announce host cities for the said titles at a later date.
It will be the third time Malaysia will host an international MLBB. This follows after the M1 and M6 World Championships in 2019 and 2024 respectively. It will also be the first time an IESF champion will defend their title in their home country.
