BOOM Esports bows out of KWC 2025 after Gen.G sweep

RIYADH — Gen.G Esports end BOOM Esports’ 2025 Honor of Kings World Cup campaign in under combined 22 minutes, sweeping their Filipino rivals in the lower bracket finals of Group A.

The Kings Major East squad secured a wire-to-wire victory in Game 1 in just under 10 minutes. Wahil “Wawa” Hassani starred with a flawless six kills and five assists on Biron, contributing more than 20% of Gen.G’s total damage.

BOOM’s Miguel “Miggie” Bautista struggled on Mayene, managing only a kill while dying four times, as the team failed to gain any foothold from the early game.

Game 2 saw Wawa dominate again, leading Gen.G to an almost 12-minute win to close the series. The clash laner racked up seven kills and six assists on Fatih, cementing his impact.

Adrian “Toshi” Bacallo found little success on Arli, posting just one kill and five assists. BOOM also had trouble contesting objectives and jungle control, with Gen.G’s Zhang “Roc” Peng taking full advantage of their map dominance to secure early resources.

BOOM Esports exited the tournament as the highest-placing squad from the Philippine Kings League, finishing tied for 11th-14th and earning US$80,000 in prize money.

Only three Southeast Asian teams remain in contention. Malaysian squad Nova Esports topped Group C and secured a direct playoff berth, while compatriots Alpha Gaming and Indonesia’s Team Vitality advanced to the Last Chance round.
