MCC S2 Champion to Earn Direct MDL PH Slot
MANILA — Collegiate esports is taking center stage this July 11 to 13, as the Moonton Student Leaders (MSL) Collegiate Cup (MCC) Season 2 Championship Series takes over the MOA Music Hall for a three-day live finale with the Top 8 college teams from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
At stake is more than just pride: the Season 2 champion earns a direct slot to the MLBB Development League (MDL PH) Season 6, making MCC the official collegiate gateway to the Philippine MLBB pro scene.
Free admission, high stakes
Admission is free for fans, students, and families who want to watch future MLBB stars battle live on-stage for the lion’s share of the ₱500,000 prize pool, which includes ₱400,000 for teams and ₱100,000 in school or charity grants.
Now in its second season, the MCC has grown from 148 to 182 schools, continuing to build its reputation as a true grassroots-to-pro platform. MCC Season 1 alumni now shine on the national stage: PHINMA-UI SVX Fides, who now compete in MDL PH as Martial Mayhem, and USC Vamos’ Bai Luci, who currently plays for RSG PH in MPL.
“The MSL Collegiate Cup is more than just a tournament—it’s a cornerstone for nurturing the next generation of MLBB professionals and campus leaders,” said Ken Ryan Lee, MOONTON PH Game Community Lead. “Through MCC, we’re proud to foster school pride, esports passion, and meaningful student representation across the Philippines.”
From classroom to championship
The Top 8 finalists have all been flown to Manila for an all-expenses-paid pro-level experience, including exclusive mentorship sessions with MPL PH figures like Jamespangks, MP the King, BON CHAN, Coach Pakbet, and Chantelle.
These workshops aim to help the student-athletes sharpen their gameplay and gain real-world knowledge about what it takes to go pro in MLBB.
Campus esports on the rise
The MCC also puts school spirit front and center. The Top 3 schools not only win team prizes but also receive school development grants. MCC organizers will also hold community events and watch parties in select campuses to hype up the finals and strengthen the student-led MLBB scene.
Catch the MCC Season 2 Championship Series live from July 11 to 13 at the MOA Music Hall, featuring community booths, giveaways, and appearances from MPL PH players and shoutcasters.
The MCC is supported by Smart and OPPO, and is a joint initiative by the MSL Campus Communities and Campus Esports Organizations nationwide.
