Uzi Joins League of Legends Hall of Legends as Second Inductee

Jian “Uzi” Zihao, a name synonymous with mechanical brilliance and LPL dominance, has officially been enshrined in the League of Legends Hall of Legends, becoming the second pro player ever to receive the game’s highest honor.

Riot Games announced on May 20, 2025, that Uzi would join the Hall of Legends, following Faker‘s inaugural induction in 2024. His legacy, built over a decade of excellence as one of the world’s greatest bot laners, will be celebrated in-game and on-stage — with commemorative content, exclusive cosmetics, and a live induction ceremony in Shanghai.

From Royal Club to RNG Royalty

Uzi’s career began as a prodigy in China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL), rising through Royal Club before cementing his legend with Royal Never Give Up (RNG). His aggressive, calculated playstyle transformed the bot lane role, redefining how the position was viewed globally.

Twice a Worlds finalist in 2013 and 2014, and the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) champion, Uzi was often the centerpiece of China’s rise in global competition. Despite injuries and a brief retirement, his impact remained constant — both in-game and culturally, as a symbol of esports excellence in China.

“Uzi’s legacy goes beyond his titles and achievements; he changed the way we view the bot lane role,” said Chris Greeley, Global Head of LoL Esports. “Once we saw the voting breakdown from global panelists, it was clear he had left his mark.”

As part of the celebration, Riot will launch an in-game Hall of Legends event on June 11, offering fans a unique way to relive Uzi’s journey. A themed event pass will guide players through key career moments, while new cosmetics — co-developed with Uzi himself — will give long-time fans collectible tributes to his legacy.

The festivities will culminate in a live Hall of Legends Induction Ceremony in Shanghai on June 6, honoring Uzi with tributes, appearances, and exclusive content. He will also be presented with a custom art piece by Mercedes-Benz, capturing moments from his career in a unique, crossover visual style.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz will gift Uzi a custom MANUFAKTUR G-Class SUV with EQ Technology, blending real-world performance with the prestige of Uzi’s career.

“We want to honor Uzi with something as unique as his career,” said Bettina Fetzer, Vice President of Digital & Communication at Mercedes-Benz AG. “This vehicle will stand as a steady companion and a reminder of his great achievements.”

Legacy Cemented, Inspiration Continues

Uzi’s induction marks more than just a personal milestone — it’s a nod to how far League of Legends and the LPL have come. As a fierce competitor, fan favorite, and ambassador of the sport, Uzi helped shape LoL Esports’ rise in China and around the world.

The Hall of Legends induction process involves a global voting panel of esports veterans, assessing players based on international success, domestic dominance, role-specific impact, and cultural contributions. Those inducted are not only remembered with physical trophies, but are also immortalized through themed events and in-game content.

Fans can visit the Hall of Legends website starting May 27 for more information, including full details about the Uzi event pass, bundles, and collectibles. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of in-game items will support Uzi and his past organizations.
