Smart Omega Secures First Win Against Twisted Minds; Falcons End TNC’s Streak
MAKATI — Smart Omega finally entered the win column after sweeping Twisted Minds PH, while Team Falcons PH halted TNC Pro Team’s win streak as MPL Philippines Season 15 continued into Week 3 on Friday.
The Barangay outplayed the newly-formed squad, with Czedrick “Super Yoshi” Romero delivering his best performance yet. Meanwhile, Michael Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson’s MVP-worthy performance powered the Green Falcons past the Phoenix Army.
Omega’s first win in Season 15
Playing in only his second series of the season, Super Yoshi shined with his Ruby, racking up eight assists and only one death in an 11-2 thrashing of Twisted Minds that ended in under 10 minutes.
In Game 2, Salic “Hadji” Imam and Jomarie “Escalera” delos Santos opted for a midlane Chou and a roam Floryn, but the lack of damage from the duo proved costly. They accounted for seven of Omega’s 11 total deaths, while James “Jeymz” Gloria and Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar managed to secure just one kill each.
Coach Mark Jayson “Eson” Gerardo introduced two new hero picks for Season 15, drafting Angela for Escalera and a jungle Alice for Michael “MP The King” Endino. On the other side, Smart Omega stuck to their usual game plan, locking in Granger for Jomari “JOWM” Pingol.
Both teams engaged in a neck-and-neck battle, with Twisted Minds even taking the lead in the late game after punishing all but Andrew “Andoryuuu” Flora’s Joy in the river at the 15-minute mark.
However, Twisted Minds’ decision to force a GG push rather than securing the last midlane turret backfired, leaving only Jeymz’s Phoveus to defend.
As Twisted Minds secured Lord, Super Yoshi’s Badang masterfully baited MP The King’s Alice, luring him into a chase that led to his downfall in the 19th minute. With MP The King out of the picture, Omega seized the moment, pushing for the win. Super Yoshi claimed the MVP award with an impressive 18 assists.
Falcons halted TNC’s flight

Team Falcons PH reminded everyone why they were the best team of 2023, dismantling TNC Pro Team in Game 1 with a dominant 10-1 victory in just 10 minutes.
Jhon Marl “Lord JM” Sebastian’s Cici struggled against David Charles “FlapTzy” Canon’s X.Borg, falling a game-high four times and getting outplayed throughout the match.
However, it was KyleTzy’s Hayabusa who stole the spotlight, tallying five kills and two assists, overwhelming TNC’s sustain-heavy lineup that featured a jungle Baxia for Justine “Zaida” Palma.
A historic moment unfolded in Game 2, as Pheww became the first player in MPL Philippines history to reach 3,000 career assists. He achieved this milestone when KyleTzy’s Ling eliminated Yawi with Selena’s Abyssal Trap at the six-minute mark.
TNC showed resilience, pushing Falcons outside their base and hunting them down. But Zaida’s Hayabusa overextended, exhausting his ultimate, which Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo’s Chou capitalized on, leading to a complete wipeout of TNC.
KyleTzy secured another MVP nod, finishing with eight kills and four assists, while Pheww’s record now sits at 3,005 assists.
