Team Liquid PH secures 2nd Win; Falcons soar over Smart Omega

QUEZON CITY – Team Liquid PH and Team Falcons PH ended the opening week of MPL Philippines Season 15 on a high note, securing crucial victories on Sunday. The Cavalry made quick work of the still-winless Twisted Minds, while Falcons PH dominated Smart Omega, marking the first major win for the Saudi-backed squad.

Falcons PH Dominates Smart Omega for Maiden Win

The Falcons opened their second series with a statement victory, dismantling Smart Omega in a lopsided 21-3 showdown that lasted just under 14 minutes. Michael Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson led the charge, recording nine kills and 10 assists with his Suyou, while the rest of Falcons PH ensured Omega had no access to turtles, lords, or turrets.

M5 Finals MVP David Charles “FlapTzy” Canon delivered a standout performance on Hilda, securing Man of the Match honors with one kill and five assists, effectively shutting down Omega’s attempts at retaliation. Meanwhile, Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog struggled to find his footing, as his Hylos fell seven times with only two assists.

Omega’s woes continued in Game 2, where they once again failed to secure any major objectives. Andrew Lew “Andoryuuu” Flora tried to step up with Suyou, but fell three times, sealing Omega’s second straight loss of the season.

Team Liquid PH Sweeps Twisted Minds

Later in the night, Team Liquid PH continued their dominance, this time against Twisted Minds in a matchup that featured Kiel “Oheb” Soriano facing his former Blacklist International teammates.

Game 1 saw a composed 10-2 victory for Liquid PH, with Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya playing a key role on Hilda, contributing to nine kills. Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno also shined on Joy, recording one kill and eight assists, leading TLPH to a methodical win. Twisted Minds struggled to gain ground, managing only one turtle and a single turret before the game ended in 12 minutes.

Game 2 was even more one-sided, as Liquid PH closed the series in just nine minutes. KarlTzy’s Suyou pick wreaked havoc with nine kills and four assists, while Jaypee “Jaypee” dela Cruz and Alston “Sanji” Pabico provided crucial setups, combining for four kills and 21 assists.

Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar, Twisted Minds’ gold laner, was heavily targeted, falling four times with only one kill. Once again, Twisted Minds failed to secure any major objectives, as Liquid PH dictated the tempo from start to finish.

Liquid PH, Aurora Gaming Lead Standings After Week 1

With back-to-back 2-0 victories, Team Liquid PH sits at the top of the MPL Philippines Season 15 standings, earning two points without dropping a single game. Aurora Gaming shares the same points total, but their 2-1 win over ONIC Philippines gives them a +3 game differential, compared to Liquid PH’s +4.

Meanwhile, ONIC PH, Team Falcons PH, and TNC Pro Team each hold one point, with ONIC PH claiming third place due to their superior game difference.

At the bottom of the table, AP.Bren, Smart Omega, and Twisted Minds are still searching for their first victory, wrapping up Week 1 winless.
