SNK’s iconic kunoichi, Mai Shiranui, is now available in Street Fighter 6 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.Making history as the second-ever guest character in the franchise, Mai arrives with a stunning set of moves inspired by her Fatal Fury roots, adding a fiery new dimension to battles in Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub.
Players can dive into the action immediately if they own the Year 2 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass, while others can unlock Mai separately using Fighter Coins. She also comes with two alternate outfits: Outfit 1, a nod to her classic Fatal Fury look, and Outfit 2, a fresh design inspired by SNK’s upcoming Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
Players can unlock Outfit 2 either by purchasing it with Fighter Coins or by maxing out their bond with Mai in World Tour mode.
New Content and Updates Arriving with Mai
Alongside Mai’s debut, Capcom has introduced a host of new features and improvements.
Legendary FGC competitor and Street Fighter 6 Battle Director Woshige joins the Battle Hub as a special guest V-Rival. Players who take on Woshige using Luke, Cammy, or Akuma can earn a special emote and a challenger screen illustration.
Competitive play gets even more intense with the introduction of three new ranks: High Master, Grand Master, and Ultimate Master.
A revamped Master Rate system ensures better matchmaking at the start of each phase, while Master Phase Rewards allow players to earn exclusive content based on their performance in Ranked Matches.
Quality-of-Life Updates: Several refinements have been made across Street Fighter 6, including:
- Replay improvements like instant access to match replays, new pause options, and more.
- World Tour enhancements that make tracking Masters easier with clearer “when/where to find” hints.
- Local Tournament Mode settings, introducing features like Automatic Random Stages and an optional non-skippable intro/outro screen.
- Match Restore for Custom Rooms, letting disconnected matches restart at the beginning of the round where the disconnection occurred.
Celebrate Mai’s Arrival with the “Say Hello to Mai!” Fighting Pass
Fans can also get their hands on the new “Say Hello to Mai!” Fighting Pass, which features avatar gear inspired by Mai’s outfit, a flaming Challenger Screen effect, and the classic Flame Dragon God (Nippon Stage II) music track to set the mood for battle.
With Mai now shaking up the Street Fighter 6 roster, the excitement for Year 2 continues to grow. Following the explosive arrivals of Terry Bogard and M. Bison, all eyes are now on Elena, who is set to complete this year’s lineup.
