ONIC PH advances to Challenge Finals, Liquid PH scores vital win as Snapdragon Pro Series Season 6 APAC – Challenge Season continues

MANILA – Two Filipino teams secure their much-needed wins as the third day of the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series Season 6 APAC – Challenge Season group stage continue on Thursday.

Both ONIC Philippines and Team Liquid PH scored victories, with ONIC getting a sweep over fellow MPL Philippines outfit Blacklist International, and Liquid PH getting a much-needed one over Singapore’s RSG SG.

Second win to the grand stage

The Super Family needed only two games to assert their dominance against the Codebreakers, however the latter gave the reigning M6 champions a hard time compared to Indonesia’s EVOS
Glory.

King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez’s trusted Suyou pick made wonders for the yellow and black as he tallied six kills and 10 assists in a close 20-19 showdown against Blacklist, with counterpart Michael “MPPPP” Endino’s Joy getting nine kills and assisting five.

Blacklist even had a slim lead on the 15th minute as they took down Borris “Brusko” Parro’ Khaleed, Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Luo Yi,  and Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez’s Cici after ONIC had taken the lord, but K1NGKONG and Duane “Kelra” Pillas made full use of the lord advantage to put Blacklist back on defense mode.

The Super Family repeated over the Codebreakers in Game 2, with the lone lord of the game enough for the former to secure the sweep in 12 minutes, 15-10.

It was Kelra, using the Harith, who became the star of the show with eight kills and two assists, while Super Frince’s Pharsa also had a great game, assisting eight and getting a kill in the process.

John “Perkziva” Sumawan’s Mathilda heroics weren’t enough to salvage Blacklist a decider third game, with his 3/3/5 KDA turning to naught.

Lazy Esports bow out with a fight

MDL Philippines Season 4 champions Lazy Esports was on the receiving end of a loss against MPL Indonesia’s bottom-feeding EVOS Glory, but the top-tier Indo side needed three games to fend off the MDL squad.

It was a close fight in Game 1, with Lazy even getting an early advantage thanks to all three turtles secured, but EVOS had to crawl back with Junisen “Anavel” Young Lo’s Joy getting eight kills and five assists.

Nicodemus Dustin “Niky” Koesnadi’s Irithel however had an off-night, falling four times and only getting a kill while Jan Carl “Shizou” Valdez’s efforts on the Granger went to naught for Lazy.

Game 2 however became a different story as Lazy Esports went ballistic against the M1-winning organization, mauling them 18-7 with Shizou’s Irithel now getting the MVP nod with 5/1/10.

Both Jerry Ian “Chovskrt” Nicol and Landher “Der” San Gabriel became stars of the show, with the former’s Pharsa getting a game-high 13 assists, while the latter’s Lukas tallying six kills and seven assists, while Kenley Nathaniel “Veldora” Zefanya Badang was off, being taken down five times.

EVOS needed a 2/1/10 heroics from Adriansyah “Claw Kun” Baihaqi Lesmana’s Faramis, getting crucial saves in a close 19-minute match, while James “Jamespangks” Mendoza get a 5/4/0 outing from a jungle Martis.

Cruise control from the Cavalry

It was a quick work for Team Liquid PH as they bounced back from a close 1-2 loss against RRQ Hoshi, venting their ire on a new-look RSG Singapore side.

Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya’s Phoveus became a thorn on RSG’s side, getting the MVP nod on a quick 11-minute, 21-4 thumping of the Singaporeans, while Jaypee “Jaypee” dela Cruz had an impressive Khaleed showing with two kills and 14 assists.

RSG was lagging from the start, with an all-Physical trio of Badang, Hilda, and Chou combining for 16 of 21 deaths, while Masayuki “YukTzy” Fujita’s Bruno having a field day.

TLPH showed more of the same in Game 2, this time finishing the game in 12 minutes with a 24-6 blasting of the Singaporean Raiders as Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s 11/0/6 showing with the Joy shining for the Cavalry.

Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s Luo Yi dished out 17 assists in the match, including several vital Diversion plays to surprise RSG, while Indonesian roamer Tristan Christopher “Gear” Nathanael’s Hylos was on the receiving end of the beatdown with eight deaths and only five assists.

With the win, TLPH will try to inch closer to a Last Chance Qualifier spot against another Indonesian team in Alter Ego, who lost 0-2 to RRQ.

One more win to join the Super Fam

Aurora, who also won their debut match in the Snapdragon Pro Series Challenge Season, will have to go against Indonesian side Bigetron Alpha on Saturday, December 10.

The Northern Lights will expect a hard-hitting match against the Robot Merah, with Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto facing a familiar face in former RSG PH teammate Eman “EMANN” Sangco.
