eGilas Pilipinas settles for 4th in eFIBA S3 World Finals
CLARK, Pampanga – The Philippine national NBA2K team ends up in fourth place after defeats to both the United States and Portugal in the Finals Phase of the eFIBA Season 3 World Finals in the SMX Convention Center Clark.
The eGilas Pilipinas, composed of players from Laus Group Esports, scored two wins against Türkiye and New Zealand before falling to Brazil in the final game of their group stage, 110-103.
Resurging USA on a sweep
The US NBA2K team dominated the host country in their semifinals match, two games to none, to deny them their hopes of a gold medal in the world championships.
With a 17-10 lead in favor of the visitors after the first quarter, the Americans take full control of Game 1 for a wire-to-wire 67-46 win. SuperSeese led Team USA with 23 points, three rebounds, and two steals with seven-of-eight from beyond the arc, while ZavaLCB’s 14-point, nine-assist game for eGilas went to naught.
Blazer5 Gaming’s star MamaImDatMan becomes the man in the first half of Game 2 as he put up 15 points to a 39-28 lead for Team USA, while they limit the eGilas to only four rebounds.
The newcomer put the icing on the cake for Team USA as eGilas were unable to come back in the second half, 73-60.
Close but not enough against Portugal
eGilas put on a close fight in their battle for bronze against the Portuguese in Game 1, as all but Social put up double-digit scores for the home side.
ZavalCB’s crucial free throws was the cherry on top to a 56-51 eGilas win as DonPriich tallied a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Portugal came back to even the series with a 57-45 Game 2 win as they extended their lead to the fourth quarter with PTCreative and nobrainSalazar_ combining for 41 points.
It was a much closer affair for the two sides in the decider game but eGilas fell short of a comeback in the dying moments as a dagger three won’t be enough to a 48-46 Portugal win.
Second gold for Team USA
The Americans locked their second eFIBA title in a row as they swept the Turkish team in two games, 71-62, 71-55.
It is the second finals win for CB13, Dawsix, Seese and JohhnyRed, who won it last year against France.
The Philippines meanwhile ended up as two-time semifinalists after missing out on the finals last Season 2 against the United States.
