McDonald’s Tempest Cup: Philippines’ Largest Honor of Kings Tournament Heads to Grand Finals

Manila, Philippines – October 5, 2024 – The thrilling McDonald’s Tempest Cup, the Philippines’ largest Honor of Kings tournament, is nearing its epic conclusion. After weeks of intense competition, the top four teams are set to battle it out for the championship title.

The matches were held in different McDonald’s Branches in and around the Metro Manila and after the smoke and dust of the competition cleared there were the top 4 teams.

The Final Four

The following teams have emerged as the best in the country:

Team Rosters

    1. Alpha – Led by Charles Richard C. Orlain (YatoLFT), this formidable team includes players Carlito J. Ribo Jr. (Riboooo), Carl Jioseppe C. Lacsam (Calmhok), Mark Clinton L. Pelayo (FateLFT), and John Christian Binagay (jaycee1).
    2. Execration – Featuring talents like Raphael Alfonzo Umali (XCTN.Rafe), Miguel Adrielle Gavin (XCTN.Mitsura), Sean Andrei Baguino (XCTN.Hide), Karl Ken Bautista (XCTN.Karlll), and John Phillex Bulanadi (XCTN.Dani), Execration aims to seize the championship.
    3. Blacklist International – With Justine Ritchie V. Tan (BLCK.Juschie) at the helm, this powerhouse team also includes Chammy Paul A. Nazarrea (BLCK.Chammy1), Aaron Mark A. Bingay (BLCK.Aaron), Golden Hart S. Dajao (BLCK.Goldenk1te), and Charles Roman C. Esguerra (BLCK.Chazz).
    4. Xalt Esports – The team that stunned the nation by eliminating BOOM Esports. Led by Homer Matol (Fleur), with Julius Ian Gabriel Bayoneta (Blazey), Darren Morgan (Darrfinn), Jedrick Portos (Tunzkie), and Prince Cedie Villamor (Cedie).

Road to the Finals

The tournament has seen its share of upsets, with Xalt Esports shockingly eliminating tournament favorites BOOM Esports in the quarterfinals.

Grand Finals

The grand finals will take place on October 5th at McDonald’s Frontera Verde in Pasig City. Here’s the schedule:

  • 1:00 PM: Press Conference and Pre-Show
  • 3:00 PM: Semi-Finals (Best-of-3)
  • 7:00 PM: Grand Finals (Best-of-5)

Bagging the championship

After the semi finals it was Blacklist International and Team Execration the top two teams of the tournament. Both teams had the pedigree of top esports teams. It was a matter of team execution that mattered and understanding the situation. Blacklist International stamped their class and ultimately walking away with the McDonald’s Honor Of Kings Tempest Cup.
