Donny Pangilinan Takes on Gamers’ Role in “GG”

Donny Pangilinan steps outside his comfort zone in “GG,” playing Seth, an introverted gamer navigating personal struggles while competing with a rookie esports team.

This film, directed by Prime Cruz, dives into the Philippines’ first full-length feature on the world of professional esports. It’s produced by Mediaworks, Cignal Entertainment, and Create Cinema, with ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema handling distribution. Acer and Predator gaming products serve as the official PC partner.

Pangilinan, himself an Acer Philippines brand ambassador, shares, “It made me respect professional gamers more, seeing their hard work. It’s a real profession, not to be taken lightly.”

“GG” also holds family significance for Pangilinan. It marks his first on-screen collaboration with his mom, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan. His father, Anthony Pangilinan, owns Mediaworks, and his sister, Hannah, co-wrote and co-produced the movie.

“GG” is the country’s first full-length movie that delves into the world of professional esports.

“It really made me respect more professional gamers and how much hard work they put into it. It’s really a real profession; it shouldn’t be taken lightly,” said Donny, who is an Acer Philippines brand ambassador.

The film’s cast includes Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Boots Anson-Roa, Baron Geisler, Gold Aceron, Igi Boy Flores, Kaleb Ong, Johannes Risler, and Icebox. Anthony Pangilinan, Jake Ejercito, Kim Atienza, Bigboy Cheng, Jake San Diego, Nicole Borromeo, and John Arcilla also made special appearances in the movie.

The cast includes familiar faces like Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Boots Anson-Roa, Baron Geisler, and Gold Aceron. Special appearances add depth, featuring Anthony Pangilinan, Jake Ejercito, Kim Atienza, and John Arcilla, among others.
