VCT to Elevate Competitive Play in 2024

VALORANT Champions Tour VCT to Elevate Competitive Play in 2024

The VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) is excited to announce a series of changes and enhancements for the upcoming 2024 season. These changes are designed to elevate the competitive play of VALORANT and make it more accessible and exciting for players and fans alike.

One of the most significant changes is the introduction of a new international league. This league will bring together the best teams from around the world to compete for a share of a $1 million prize pool. The league will be held in multiple locations throughout the year, giving fans the opportunity to see the best VALORANT teams compete live.

In addition to the new international league, the VCT will also be expanding its global footprint. The 2024 season will see the addition of new Challengers tournaments in Asia and South America. These tournaments will provide more opportunities for players to compete and earn a spot in the VCT.

The VCT is also making changes to the season design to improve progression for players. The 2024 season will feature a new point system that will reward teams for their performance in all VCT events. This will make it easier for teams to qualify for the Champions tournament, which is the culmination of the VCT season.

“We’re excited to announce these changes to the VCT,” said Leo Faria, Global Head of VALORANT Esports. “We believe these changes will make the VCT more competitive, accessible, and exciting for players and fans alike.”

The 2024 VCT season will kick off in January with a new Kickoff tournament in each of the four international leagues. The top teams from these tournaments will advance to the Masters event, which will be held in Madrid, Spain. The Masters event will be followed by the Champions tournament, which will be held in a yet-to-be-determined location.

The VCT is committed to providing the best possible competitive experience for players and fans. These changes are designed to make the VCT even more exciting and competitive in 2024.

A Fresh Start to the Season’s Opening

An intense two-week event will kick off each International League’s season in 2024. A total of 8 teams will be chosen from this new competition to compete in Masters Madrid, the season’s first major international competition. The worldwide VCT will be held in Spain for the first time during this competition, making it very evident which team is the greatest at the beginning of the year.

Challengers: Continuing on the Path to Pro

In the upcoming year, Challengers, the foundation for aspiring esports champions, will continue to develop. By operating year-round to give additional competition inside tier 2 competition, the Challengers calendar is likely to increase its footprint as it builds on the momentum. The introduction of a cutting-edge team affiliation and player loan system by Challengers will also enable more players to move between International Leagues, Challengers, and Game Changers. Additionally, the new Premier mode will serve as the starting point for VALORANT’s ascent to professional status by giving players access to the VCT within the game.

Growth that is unprecedented and the rise of new teams

By including an unprecedented number of elite teams in the highest level of play, the upcoming 2024 season is expected to redefine the sport’s apex. Three successful teams emerge from the Challengers’ furnace at the end of the Ascensions event, gaining the prized privilege to compete in the International Leagues in 2024. Through a year of grueling competition, The Guard, Gentle Mates, and Bleed Esports prevailed, earning a two-year promotion into the worldwide leagues.

Change Accepted: Championship Points

With the introduction of Champions Points, the upcoming season structure will be dynamic. Championship Points, which are intended to heighten the season’s crescendo, will act as a uniting factor between International Leagues and Global Tournaments, measuring each team’s success and acting as a means of international competition qualification.

Unveiling China: Fourth Official League

Competitive opportunities will expand to new regions as China joins the illustrious ranks of the Americas, EMEA, and Pacific as the fourth official league in VCT. Recognizing the potential and contributions of the Chinese community, this momentous inclusion reflects VALORANT’s goal to be the world’s most global esport. In addition to the new league, Shanghai will also host the second Masters event of the season where twelve teams will battle for Championship Points and Champions qualification.
